The Story Behind the Slam

Every city has seasons. Every season has a mood. And every runner has a story.

The Hyderabad City Slam was born from a simple idea — what if runners could experience the city through every season, one run at a time?

Not just a race. Not just a medal. But a journey across summer heat, monsoon rhythm, and winter breeze — finishing what you start across the year.

Hyderabad City Slam brings together three iconic races into one year-long journey that celebrates discipline, progress, and community.

What Is Hyderabad City Slam?

The Hyderabad City Slam is a series of three races conducted across one calendar cycle, designed to build endurance progressively through the year. Each race increases in distance, allowing runners to improve step by step while experiencing the city across different seasons.

To officially complete the Slam, participants must finish all three races consecutively within the cycle. You can start your journey at any race — but skipping a race resets the Slam journey. This makes it more than a race series.

It becomes a disciplined athletic progression.

SUMMER RUN

MONSOON RUN

Built On Three Pillars

Community

Inclusivity First

The Slam is designed so that anyone can begin their running journey, regardless of experience.

Even someone starting from zero can train, improve, and complete the 10K. With relaxed cutoffs, structured guidance, and strong community support, runners can steadily grow from beginners into confident finishers.

Hyderabad

Hyderabad Focused

Hyderabad City Slam celebrates the city and its growing running culture.

Instead of traveling across cities to complete race series, runners can now build their endurance journey entirely within Hyderabad while experiencing some of the city’s most iconic running routes, including the Hussain Sagar Full Loop.

Women

Women at the Center

Women participation is a core focus of the Hyderabad City Slam.

The initiative aims to increase women runners across all categories, highlight inspiring stories from Hyderabad’s running community, and create a supportive and safe ecosystem that encourages more women to take up running.

Why Is This Historic

Hyderabad City Slam is among the first city-based running slams in India.

Until now, runners had to travel across cities, manage logistics, and plan multiple race calendars to complete a series.

— all within Hyderabad.

Designed For Every Runner

Beginner

Beginners

For anyone starting their running journey. The Slam structure allows runners to begin with a 10K and gradually build endurance toward longer distances.

Intermediate

Intermediate Runners

Runners looking to build consistency and improve performance across progressive distances.

Advanced Runners

Competitive runners aiming for podium finishes, timed races, and strong performance benchmarks.

A Year-Long Running Ecosystem

When you register for the Hyderabad City Slam, you become part of a guided running journey. Participants gain access to training support, community programs, and connections with Hyderabad’s coaches and running groups. The ecosystem includes initiatives such as training programs, community runs, and beginner-focused programs like Couch to 5K.

The focus is not just on finishing races — but on building long-term fitness and confidence.

Race Categories & Podium Recognition

The Hyderabad City SLAM features Open, Pro, and Virtual Run categories, making it accessible for runners of all levels.

In the Open Slam Category, podium recognition will be given across age groups (Male & Female).

The Pro Category is designed for competitive runners and will have overall Male & Female winners, with cash prizes.

The Virtual Run allows participants from across India to be part of the event and receive official event medals and T-shirts. However, Virtual Run participants are not eligible for the Hyderabad City Slam qualification.

Runners who complete all three on-ground races in the series will earn the Hyderabad City SLAM Finisher Medal, celebrating their consistency and endurance.

Running for a Cause

Hyderabad City Slam is not just about performance — it is also about purpose.

One of the key beneficiaries of this initiative will be Mallikamba Institute of Mentally Handicapped and Associated Disabilities in Warangal, which works to support children through education and opportunity. In addition, we will partner with NGOs in Hyderabad working across areas such as education, health, and community welfare.

Through the Slam, we aim to raise awareness and support meaningful causes through the running community.

Sustainability Commitment

As running culture grows, so does our responsibility toward the environment.

Hyderabad City Slam is committed to keeping the event as sustainable as possible, with a focus on responsible waste management, reducing single-use plastics, and working with eco-conscious partners.

We believe a strong running community should also care for the planet it runs on.
